Announcement of the Conclusion of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival

Today, Friday, September 4, 2026, the Tokyo Anime Award Festival marks the end of its 13-year history with the conclusion of the online screening of the Competition of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026 (TAAF2026), held from Friday, March 13 to Monday, March 16, 2026.

The Tokyo Anime Award Festival was launched in 2014 as an independent festival that evolved from the Tokyo Anime Award, which had been held as part of the Tokyo International Anime Fair from 2002 to 2013.
Since then, the festival has welcomed a wide range of animation works from Japan and around the world, honoring outstanding works and creators while showcasing the appeal and potential of animation through a variety of projects, including screenings, exhibitions, talk shows, workshops, and educational programs.

We would not have been able to hold 13 editions of the festival without the invaluable support of everyone who submitted their works, our Selection Committee members, jury members, and creators, as well as everyone who attended and participated in the festival and all those who have been involved in and contributed to its journey. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival throughout its history.

As the landscape surrounding animation continues to undergo significant changes, we hope that the role this festival has played, the connections made, the words shared, and the experience of encountering countless works here will remain with you for years to come.

Please note that as of Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the Tokyo Anime Award Festival's official X account, official YouTube channel, and inquiry form will be discontinued and closed.
Furthermore, as of Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the current official website will transition to an archive site where you can continue to view our past activities and event details.
