Born in Kumamoto, Japan in 1960. After graduating from Kyushu University with a degree in engineering, he worked for a foreign oil company before joining Studio Ghibli in 1999, where he was involved in public relations and promotion. In 2011, he became the Executive Director of the Tokuma Memorial Cultural Foundation for Animation. In 2017, he became the Director of the Public Relations Department. In 2023 summer, he became an executive officer in charge of overseas promotion, public relations, and curatorial affairs. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tokuma Memorial Cultural Foundation for Animation.
