最近まで親世代はスマートフォンに抵抗し、インターネットや電化製品に深く縛られた現代社会から疎外されていました。しかし、この2年間、私の努力により、両親はスマートフォンに慣れ始めました。その道のりをアニメーションで大げさに表現し、私の経験や感情を皆さんと共有したいと思います。

I believe older audiences share the same confusion as me: parents are very resistant to smartphones and are marginalized in today’s society which deeply bound by the internet and electronic products. In the past two years, through some of my efforts, my parents have become accustomed to using smartphones. And I have presented this emotional state in an exaggerated way in animation, hoping to share my experience and feelings with everyone.

旧友であり生涯のライバルでもある張と李は、80歳を目前にして病気やストレスに悩まされる。張は腰椎手術のため上海に行くことになり、李はアルツハイマーの初期症状が出ている。別れを告げる前に、2人はチェス盤の上で最後の決闘をし、どちらがチャンピオンになるかをハッキリさせることにした。過去の恥辱を払拭するため、李は猛練習に励み、張は無敗記録を維持するために全力を尽くす。両者とも心理戦と嘲笑的な侮辱を用意して臨む。しかし、戦いは2人が想像するほど単純なものではなかった。

Zhang and Li, two old friends and lifelong rivals, are nearing 80 years old and beset by ailments, illness, and the stresses of life. Zhang is set to go to Shanghai for lumbar surgery, while Li is experiencing early signs of Alzheimer’s. Before saying their goodbyes, the two agree to fight one last duel on the chessboard to decide once and for all who will be champion. Each is intent on winning: to wipe away his past shame, Li trains hard, while Zhang gives his all to maintain his unbeaten record. Both come prepared with psychological warfare and mocking insults.
